Facilities
Laboratory and office spaces: Approximately over two thousand net square feet including three separate laboratory spaces (~ 750 ft2 each of the three labs) and one dark room (~220 ft2) are available to the Leem research group housed in Jahn Lab (Department of Chemistry) at SUNY ESF. These four labs are equipped with eight benches, five fume hoods, house vacuum, N2 gas, and deionized water lines.
(1) 230 Jahn Lab (750 ft2): The synthetic laboratory space has two Schlenk lines with a high vacuum system for isolating and handling air-sensitive materials, three rotary evaporators, two high-speed benchtop centrifuges up to 14,000 rpm, lab analytical balances, an ultrasonic probe sonicator, two vacuum ovens, air-free argon box, a low-temperature freezer (-15 °C) and one freeze dryer for the dehydration of liquid products.
(3) 232 Jahn Lab (750 ft2): The characterization lab houses a Waters 2690 Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), Viscotek T50 Differential Viscometer, TA Instruments Q800 Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA), TA Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), TA Thermogravimerty Analysis (TGA), Rheometrics RDSII dynamic spectrometer, and Bruker MPA FT-NIR Spectrophotometer.
(4) 234 Jahn Lab (750 ft2): The inorganic lab has three high-temperature box furnaces (1,100 °C), Parr high-pressure steel reaction vessels, a Pine Instruments WaveNow potentiostat, WaveDriver EIS Bipotentiostat/Galvanostat, a Thermo Scientific Evolution 200 UV-visible spectrometer, UV-1900i UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, a AOC-30i GC gas chromatograph with flame ionization detector (GC-FID), an ISS PC1 Photon Counting Spectrofluorimeter, a Newport LSH-7320 ABA LED-based solar simulator, a Newport Xe arc lamp, two Lindberg/Blue M Box Furnaces, AMX-1240M screen printer for patterning electrodes, and a photochemical reactor.
(4) 232A Jahn Lab: The dark room space (~150 ft2) has two GC instruments, and electrochemist facilities, and solar simulator for photoelectrochemical system.
(5) SUNY-ESF Analytical & Technical Services:
Analytical and Technical Services (A&TS) is available at SUNY-ESF to provide specialized, customer-focused, value-added support services contributing to the ESF missions of instruction, research, and public service. Areas of support include instrumental analytical methods, scientific equipment and instrument repair/design/fabrication, and chemical/laboratory apparatus stockroom services. Provided services include nuclear magnetic resonance (600 and 800 MHz NMR) spectrometry, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GS/MS), liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), instrument and equipment repair and fabrication, inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), chemical and laboratory apparatus stockroom, and polymer rheology and mechanical properties.
Additional instruments and information will be uploaded.
